The Senior DevOps Engineer manages products integral to developing new software or supporting developers in that effort. They manage and help architect infrastructure pertaining to software applications. They work with IT personnel concerning the operation of the software that facilitates the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). They work with developers to create processes for continuous deployment and maintenance of software in production and non-production environments.
What You Will Be Doing
Infrastructure Management - 70%
- Generate new application development environments and facilitate developer onboarding and training.
- Manage and acquire licensing for software utilized by core IT and affiliated engineering teams.
- Coordinate team to stand up new servers that will house new and existing software.
- Design and maintain infrastructure-as-code and managed configuration that controls cloud and on-prem environments.
- Installation and patching of various software that will support new and existing applications.
- Compliance reviews concerning the state of production systems.
- Design and implement CI/CD processes for new and existing applications.
- Work with affiliate points of contact to define and adjust workflows that facilitate the SDLC.
- Architect user access systems for internal and hosted applications that support the SDLC.
- Maintain contribution and style guides for repositories supporting infrastructure-as-code and configuration management.
- Pair-program with junior members of the team and perform code reviews.
Platform Architecture - 20%
- Analyze the infrastructure of existing applications and systems to design improved architecture diagrams.
- Draft proposals for infrastructure migrations into cloud hosting from on-prem or poorly-architected environments.
- Design and implement observability and telemetry systems across the enterprise.
- Manage enterprise-wide monitoring and alerts of application systems and infrastructure to ensure and measure adherence to established RTO and RPO.
- Design workflows and inject automation into repetitive tasks for SDLC projects that span multiple teams.
Administrative - 10%
Assist the supervisor with accurate task estimates and group design efforts.
Work and coordinate with leadership, security, service delivery, engineering, and affiliate points of contact to ensure proper communication and sign off on administration tasks going across domains.
Research and continuing education.
Manage task-related communications with business owners and other departments.
Document completed work and resolutions.
