We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will have a deep knowledge of Construction Management, Heavy Highway Estimating, Civil Projects, HCSS Heavybid and will be able to quickly assess the scope of work involved in any project and create accurate and timely estimates.
Position Overview:
The Construction Estimator is responsible for providing timely and accurate cost estimates for projects, including ability to perform quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and value engineering. The Estimator will develop comprehensive estimates using plan readings, field measurements, scope of work, blueprints, and other related documents.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare scope of work for all projects assigned
Analyze plans and specifications to determine cost estimates and prepare bid packages
Research competitive pricing for materials and services to ensure accuracy and cost-effectiveness of estimates
Utilize quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and value engineering to create thorough and accurate cost estimates
Prepare estimates for subcontractor bids, materials, labor costs, and other related project costs
Review and adjust estimates as needed
Maintain and update cost estimates as changes occur
Manage bid process, including proposal preparation, bid submission, and negotiation
Analyze trends in project costs and suggest cost saving measures
Prepare and present analyses to management for decision making
Ensure accuracy of estimates and compliance with contractual terms and conditions
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
5+ years of experience in Construction Estimating, Project Management, and/or Civil Projects
Thorough understanding of estimating software, such as HCSS Heavybid and MS Project Scheduling
Excellent knowledge of quantities takeoffs, cost analysis, and value engineering
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Self-motivation and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
