What You Will Be Doing
PRIMARY FOCUS
- Drive our understanding of the biochemistry/biology of our targets.
- Design experiments to characterize the mechanism of compounds and their function in disease-relevant pathways and processes.
- Independently develop and execute novel biochemical or biophysical assays.
- Explore the function and the mechanism of binding of candidate molecules and protein targets of interest.
- Define the functional potency and binding kinetics of compounds in support of SAR efforts.
- Elicit hypotheses to support identification of target engagement biomarkers.
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
- Coordinate and manage studies remotely at CROs and external collaborators.
- Train new scientists and research associates as needed.
- Contribute to drafting of technical reports for INDs.
- Present to internal teams and key stakeholders.
- Learn directly from the CSO, VP of Program Strategy, and other key members in our small, family-like environment.
What You Need for this Position
REQUIRED
- PhD + minimum 1 year experience.
- Hands-on experience with enzymology, biophysical and/or cellular protein-ligand assays.
- Hands-on experience with mechanism-of-action studies.
PREFERRED
- Proven industry experience in drug discovery.
- Solid foundation in molecular biology and biochemical/biophysical techniques (cloning, qPCR, western blot, immunoprecipitation etc.).
- Experience in mitochondrial dynamics, mitochondrial assays and pathways.
