What You Will Be Doing
As an Underwriter you will be responsible for but not limited to the underwriting of residential loans ensuring compliance.
A Mortgage Underwriter will be responsible for examining loan documentations for accuracy and completeness while working with loan originator or production staff to secure all required documents.
You may be required to work with more senior mortgage underwriters on loan exceptions having the authority to withdraw and decline loans.
Mortgage Underwriters may be involved in one or several types of mortgage lending (conventional, government-backed, etc.)
You may also be required to respond directly to individual and investor audits.
This job code includes all levels of underwriting authority and exception levels.
What You Need for this Position
There's the opportunity for incentive pay for working after hours, voluntarily. Some underwriters are making several thousand per month on top of the salary currently working at will.
- No DE Required
- 2 to 3 years of experience as an FHA Front Line Underwriter and complete knowledge of the mortgage business
- Self-starter, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Basic computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Encompass
- Excellent verbal, written, listening and organizational skills
- Knowledge of underwriting per Agency
