As the Mechanical Engineer II, you will be part of our medical technology company that develops and manufactures innovative patient monitoring technologies. Provide design expertise and integration in the area of Mechanical Engineering development of small handheld new products and accessories in the field of glucose monitoring technologies.
What You Will Be Doing
Develop systems and processes for high volume disposable sensor production.
Perform new product development and support sustaining engineering activities.
Design and implement automated processes, test fixtures, and mechanical devices.
Develop high volume disposable sensors as well as reusable sensors for patient monitors (from concept to product).
Generate complete engineering drawings: 2D & 3D in Solidworks
Tolerance analysis (GD&T)
Documentation of all design output
Manage drawings with the PDM system (Product Date Management System)
Support other engineering activities including FMEA, prototyping, and testing
Proficient in clearly communicating directions and in influencing people in adopting the best solutions, tools, working practices, and promotes cooperation in defining an excellent technical product
Interface with technical peers and senior-level managers to maintain a mutual understanding of product design needs, regulatory, and production requirements.
Function on multiple projects at the same time.
Advanced understanding of statistical analysis principles as they relate to data analysis and testing reports.
What You Need for this Position
Bachelors of Science or Masters in a related discipline
2+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in Medical Device - Small components or small Hand-Held Products
REQUIRED: Proficient with engineering drawings 2D & 3D CAD in Solidworks, Tolerance Analysis (GD&T), Documentation of all design output.
Understanding of mathematics/units in physics principles: force, torque, flow, velocity, material properties, convection, conduction & heat capacity
Plastic, metal, and woven or laminate parts design experience
Biomedical materials (e.g., plastics, adhesives) Plastic Injection Molding
Manufacturing and/or design experience for high volume
Experience in driving a mechanical project to completion
Source control and database experience
Excellent conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving ability
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to interface effectively with engineering and manufacturing personnel
BIG PLUS TO HAVE:
Product Packaging experience
Prior Medical device manufacturing experience, with working knowledge of:
--FDA 510(k) approval process
--ISO standards
--GMP regulations
Hands-on experience with machine shops and mechanical settings
