executive recruiter
Recruiting is my third career. My first two were bank card services (encoding/embossing of ATM and Credit Cards) and show-biz. While pursuing comedy/acting gigs, I was a temp and ended up with an assignment at Price Waterhouse. That assignment led to a full-time job with PW in Human Resources. A year after they merged with Coopers & Lybrand, I was "RIF'd" (Reduction in Force) which turned out to be a true blessing. Before I'd even left PwC, I interviewed for an HR job at Ernst & Young. I didn't get that job... instead, they offered me a role as a Junior Recruiter. I didn't know it at the time, but my best-career-yet had found me.I spent 7 years with Ernst and Young as a Tax Recruiter. I started out at the junior level and left as a senior tax sourcing analyst. Along the way, I had assignments in Tax Compliance Recruiting, Tax Legal Recruiting, Competitive Intel Gathering, Internet recruiting and testing of their Recruiting system. Ernst & Young laid off most of their recruiting staff in 2002 (remember the tech crash recession?) and I worked as a contract recruiter for a year before joining CyberCoders in 2003.When I joined, CyberCoders was small and had their headquarters in Aliso Viejo CA... I believe I am employee number 11. Lots has happened since then! Cybercoders has expanded and has offices in Boston, Los Angeles, Irvine... I don't even know where else. I've grown too... I still work on Tax/Accounting jobs a bit... but since 2005, I've specialized in Health-care Systems (mostly EPIC, Meditech, Eclipys and Cerner EMR/EHR or CPOE Systems implementations). I have had great success placing candidates into jobs building Epic Inpatient Clinical Documentation, Orders, Epic Willow, Epic ASAP Emergency Department, Epic Bridges, HL-7 Monk interfaces, Cerner FSI Open Engine.
When I was 10, I wanted to be: A member of the Partridge Family. Preferably Keith's replacement. (though I can't sing, so I should have been aiming to be Danny's replacement) | Books I would suggest to a friend: Fiction-wise, I lean towards anything by Stephen King with THE STAND being my favorite (I've read it 6 times). Non-fiction, I think every American should read THE LONG EMERGENCY to understand our energy challenges. | Favorite Movies: I recently saw CLOSE ENCOUNTERS again. It's a modern masterpiece! My opinion on this issue changes constantly! | Favorite Band or Songs: I went to iTunes to see what song I played the most times... I was worried it might be something embarrassing and it is: Robyn - Dancing By Myself | What I like to do when NOT recruiting: Golden Retriever Rescue... going to dog park with my Golden Retreiver. | Coolest job on the planet: Writer for a Car Magazine. All those cars to sample... man-o-man! | Idea to make the world a better place: It's a small thing... but if everyone would just switch from incandescent to CFL bulbs, it would make a huge difference in reducing energy consumption and green-house gas emissions.
